Yoga means 'UNION' between the mind, body and spirit. It involves the practice of physical postures and poses, which is sometimes referred to as 'asana' in Sanskrit.
The practice of yoga is more than ASANAS. It is where we learn to connect the body, fluctuations of the mind (Vritti), and the rhythm of breath (Pranayama) Connecting the mind, body and breath helps us to focus on our innerself and become more aware of our thought patterns without judgment. We become more attuned to our experiences and feelings.
Yoga uses relaxation and meditation techniques to calm or still the mind. Yoga increases the lubrication of joints, ligaments, tendons and creates a leaner, stable, flexiable and more toned body. As we age our spine ages as well, practicing yoga strengthens the spine and our muscular skeletal system. This practice is very helpful for anyone recovering from any sports injuries or surgeries. Yoga brings calmness and releases any stress or tension within the body.
I am a certified Hatha Yoga teacher with two seperate certifications
I have combined my knowledge and passion of Indian Classical dancing with my love for Hatha Yoga to form an eclectic, strong, fun yet graceful, heart warming class. I can be gentle as a lamb or as firm as an ox ! I strive to combine BREATH and MOVEMENT together bringing mind body and spirit in harmony. Reading the energy of my clients and adapting the class to their needs and wants are my main focus. I have worked with many students with varying degrees of physical limitations.
I work at guiding and giving my clients the basic fundamentals in understanding their body awareness. Helping them through their difficulties, creating a passion for learning and deepening their practice further. With these tools in hand my clients can feel confident and prepared.
I creatively bring to each class Compassion, Non Judgements, Self-Reflective and Humour. The key principles I try to live by myself.
I belive in an on going education of yoga by taking workshops with Yoga Masters such as Seane Corn, Max Strom, Phyil Lynch, Tracey Rich.
I continue to pursue my own yoga practice under the guidance ofCindy Walker.
When not travelling or teaching I love to spend time with my family and enjoy the simple things in life!

HATHA YOGA
'HA' means Sun and 'THA' moon and 'Yoga' union'.Thus bringing balance of the sun and moon or as we know it balance of 'Ying' and 'Yang'. I will gently guide you through a slower paced stretching session with focus and attention given to the "different types of pranayama". This class will be calm and meditative bringing awarness within the self. Combining breath and asana (postures) together is key for building the basic foundation of a yoga practice. I will take you step by step through the basic poses, relaxation techniques, and help you create an understanding of your own body and its movements.
VINYASA YOGA
The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” I will help you flow through one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is called Vinyasa Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and are almost dance like. Sun salutations which are an important part of this class and can be fast or slow paced depending on your stamina or strength. Gentle reminders of breath and holding poses will be in use through out the sesion.
GENTLE YOGA
This form of yoga is "therapeutic and relaxing". I love the use of props like blankets, blocks or bolsters to help support your body to relax deeper into the asana. It is a soothing and nurturing form of yoga that promotes deep relaxation and relases any tension or stress within the body or mind. This form of gentle yoga is wonderful for all levels even beginners.
